The Baby in 3D

We took these over a month ago and I’m finally getting around to posting them. Overall we enjoyed the 3D ultrasound experience. It definitely lets you see the baby in a way that 2D ultrasounds can’t. As long as you don’t go in expecting to see what your baby will look like the day it is born, it’s a lot of fun. Both grandmothers to be went with us, and this was the first baby ultrasound they had ever seen, so that alone was worth it. I’ve got a DVD also, but for now pictures will have to suffice.

It was hard getting a picture of his face because of the way he was turned. The umbilical cord kept getting in the way too. This is probably the best shot of his face that we got.

One of my favorite pictures was this one of his foot. He’s got 5 toes on at least one foot!

In Transition…

Right now the computer is in disarray and the second bedroom is covered with drop cloths. I am posting from the laptop and using the next door neighbors unsecured wireless.

Yesterday my father-in-law helped me move the computer desk into our bedroom, and with that we were ready to start painting the baby’s room. I spent the whole day today painting, and I’m only about half done. If it weren’t for stupid paint we would be all done. We tried to do green/brown to match the baby bedding, but the “brown” didn’t look brown at all. It looked peach….or sometimes white…on rare occasion tan, but never brown. We went back to All-American and bought a smaller can of another brown color to try, but when I got home it looked even worse. I’ve decide to do 2 or 3 walls green, and the remaining will go back to Swiss Coffee. Moral of the story is that coordinating paint colors via paint swatches is a pain in the butt. Everything in our house is basically a color and “white.” If I ever want to do two colors in one room, I’ll stick to some of the pre-made color combos they have. None of this “do these two go together?” nonsense.

Tomorrow I plan to paint more and finish what I started, and we’re also getting a 3D baby ultrasound thing done where you can see the alien baby in all it’s glory. More on that later.

Today we answered many important questions. Below is our baby at 22 weeks! According to the size in the ultrasound the baby is at 24.5 weeks, but the OBGYN said the original 11 week ultrasound gives a more accurate due date, which has not changed.

Whoosh Whoosh

We got to hear the baby’s heart on Friday. Most Doctors describe the heart as making a “lub dub” sound, but they are wrong. It actually makes a “whoosh whoosh” sound! haha.

We don’t know the sex yet, not for another month or so. The doc was telling us that all the baby’s parts are formed, and the rest of the pregnancy is those parts growing and maturing to the point that the baby can live outside the womb.

Not to turn baby #1 into a discussion on abortion, but I think once you have children, and you see the process happening first hand, arguments for abortion seem so selfish. I’m not talking health of the mother or health of the baby abortions, but “I will be inconvenienced” abortions. You don’t look at the ultrasound and think “wow, someday that will be my baby.” Nope, it already is your baby. There’s no magical cutoff that lets you have a clean conscience.

Value life.
