I was talking to Kurtis tonight and we were discussing the new phenomenon of people constantly updating others on what they’re doing…and practically up to the minute! I’m talking specifically about things like twitter and your facebook status where people often list the day to day activities they are doing.

I joked with Kurtis that I don’t need to know when people are putting their shoes on, and while it’s a sarcastic example, it does make me wonder…do we need even MORE intrusion into our daily schedules? I remember when staying on AIM all the time and putting up away messages seemed like a lot of connectivity.

Do people need to know everything during my day, or even more importantly, should I interrupt my day to inform other people (who probably don’t care) when I do something that isn’t particularly noteworthy? I can’t imagine anyone really cares, and I wouldn’t want to waste my time providing hourly updates on my life.

If you’re a twitter fan or constantly update your facebook, I did think of a way for you to tell if you’ve gone too far. If your facebook status says “I’m updating my facebook status,” then you are a moron.
