Our Summer So Far…

I’ve been enjoying summer so much that I forgot to blog! Now where to start…

The biggest thing we’re doing this summer is remodeling a bathroom. Originally I had dreams of remodeling it all by myself…but now we’re looking at maybe half the work. A friend’s dad will be tiling a new shower for us, and then I think I can do the rest. We went today to look at new vanities and countertops (oooh, quartz is pretty), and I might try my hand at tiling the floor. I had dreams of redoing both bathrooms this summer…but we might have to settle with one. We’re doing the bathroom in Luke’s room though, so once it’s all done we can start on our own. We’re doing that tile on the walls, a smaller 6×6 inch on the floor of the shower, and I’m going to try and put in an 18×18 on the floor. The glass/mosaic tile we’re going to use to make a stripe horizontally in the shower, and then also to make “diamonds” in the walls. Big thanks to Amanda and Kurtis for helping us pick it out!

Over the fourth of July we drove down to San Diego with Andrew and Sarah to see the Dodgers beat on the Padres. It was also the night Manny came back from his suspension, which was really interesting. Felt like we were witnessing a part of history. Every time he came up to bat the entire stadium was on its feet. It was half cheers, half boos. It was fun to spend a night away without the baby (thanks Grandparents!).

I’ve also been playing a game called Evony a lot. It’s an online, flash based game, but it’s far more advanced than you would think. You run a city (or multiple cities), collect resources, amass troops, and can attack other people. I’m in a great alliance with some other people, so it’s fun to protect each other and attack our enemies. If you want to sign-up, go here! I’m on world 5, in lower lorraine.

I have to put some Luke in here! We went a couple weeks ago for his 15.5 month check-up. He’s now 25.5 lbs, and 32 inches long. The kid eats like crazy…it’s like he’s never full. Our favorites are bananas, watermelon, strawberries, cheerios, goldfish, ritz crackers, cheese, and chicken. Come to think of it…he eats whatever we give him. He’s also letting us enjoy our summer mornings by sleeping in. The kid will go from 8pm when we put him to bed, and won’t wake up until 9am! Here’s some recent pictures.

Otherwise we’re taking it easy and enjoying summer. Stacie is headed to Las Vegas for two nights on Sunday, so it’ll be me and the boy! Should be fun, and tiring. Stacie’s going to put $20 on the Dodgers while she’s there, so Luke and I will watch the game and cheer them on.

In case you’re wondering, that caffeine counter is still accurate. Haven’t had any in two months now. Overall I wouldn’t say I have more energy…but I feel more balanced out. There are no highs and lows, just a nice normal all the time. I miss my friends Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper, but they’ve been replaced by Sprite. But somedays I have a couple sodas and then I feel gassy all day, so I might give that up too, haha.

That’s all for now. I’m promising a super cute video of Luke very soon!

A New Routine

I don’t have anything too profound to say. Work is back in full swing, and we’re all still settling into our new routine.

In the morning we wake up at 5:50 a.m., and lucky for us the boy is sleeping through the night (and then some). We manage to eat breakfast and get ourselves all ready while he naps in his crib without a care in the world. Once I’m ready at about 6:45 a.m. I wake up Luke, and feed him his morning bottle. After that it’s a clothes change, fresh diaper, and then off to the sitter. I leave the house at 7 a.m., and I’m at work usually by 7:25 a.m. Phew! Stacie picks him up in the afternoon, and we’re usually all home by around 4 p.m.

Work is good, though it will be even better once we get those first paychecks. :)

The Boy Can Sleep!

We’re pleased to report that in the last week before school starts Luke has learned how to sleep through the night. We had several nights of 8 hours in a row, followed by a 10 hour night, and last night he capped it off with a 12 hour night. It’s like he knew we were going back to work. Last night we put him down at about 8, watched a movie, he woke up around 10 and we fed him, and then he went back to sleep until 8 am.

Here’s hoping he keeps this up next week when we get back on a work schedule.

Last Summer Baby Post

It’s a shame. Summer is almost over. It’s like a part of me is dying, only to be reborn anew ten months later. Despite my sorrow, I bring you the following photographs.

We’re starting to enjoy our baths a little more. We’re absolutely fascinated by the faucet and how it moves and water comes out of it.

We fell asleep in the swing the other day, but the way he’s holding his little Dodgers bear is just adorable. That’s right, I used the word adorable. Commence name calling.

Grandma and Grandpa got us a saucer! The little seat spins around 360 degrees and he can stand/bounce in the seat. The contraption directly in front of him makes animal noises. Oh, and every item on the saucer is excellent for chewing.

Luke went over to Aunt Denise and Uncle Paul’s and got to play their keyboard. Talk about a fun toy!

Technically no one in this picture is a baby, but I’ll put it here anyways. I went out to lunch the other week some buddies from High School that I hadn’t seen in a while. It’s fun to stay in touch with guys you’ve known for such a long time. I’ve known John since 1st grade!

Well there you go. Pictures. Glorious photographs. Little snapshots of moments frozen in time forever.

Four Years Old

The Blarg is now four years old!

I haven’t been posting because we’ve been too busy watching the Olympics. We record all three airings on NBC each day. We end up watching most of those, but we skip through some stuff like whole basketball games. I think it’s fun to watch all the heats because you get to know the runners/swimmers, and then when you watch the final you know who to root for and who the good competition is. So far I’ve enjoyed watching Phelps of course, but I also enjoyed the men’s 100m dash. Bolt is just a beast! We also watched all of the gymnastics, swimming, synchro diving, and the recent track and field coverage. We’re watching some of the volleyball, but we’ll get into it more nearing the finals. I would have to say the most boring events so far are the rowing.

Kurtis and Amanda got married and had a beautiful wedding day. It was great being a part of it. This was the second wedding I was able to videotape, and I have to say I really enjoy it. If there was ever a regular “job” I’d want on the side, starting a little videographer business might be fun.

In addition to watching the Olympics we’ve been doing a whole lot of nothing. I actually have a huge list of things to do before we go back to work. I’m getting my own room this year, and right now everything is just thrown on the tables with zero organization, so I have to go back a few days the week before to get things in order.

We have permanently moved Luke into his own bedroom now. He’s sleeping in his crib always and out of the bassinet, and his changer is now in his own room. He’s been sleeping really well the last couple weeks. He usually sleeps 8-10 hours total, but he usually needs a refill in the middle. Overall it will be much nicer than when he was firstborn. Waking up once during the night for 10 minutes is pretty easy. He’s done 7 and 8 hours straight a couple times, so I’m hopeful we can get him on our school schedule in the near future.

I met up with some friends from High School last weekend, so I have a picture of that to post, and of course I should put up more baby, but I’ll do that later. It’s after noon now, so I should probably take a shower. :)

Whose Baby is a Jedi?

Edit: I forgot to include his four month stats! At the doctor he weighed in at 18 lbs and 2 ounces, and stretched just shy of 26″. That’s my big boy!

I know it’s been a while since I posted, and I hate to break it to you, but until the book is done it will stay slow. Hopefully the following will make up for it.

I have never been more proud of my son than during this photoshop moment. This is his after bath towel with a hood, and everytime we use it I call him my little Jedi. He’s the bomb.

Now for some boring non-Star Wars pictures.

This chair is much too big for him.

We’re very serious about our finger sucking. Three at a time!

Here’s non-photoshopped bath time. The wife looks especially hot in this one.

Luke got his four month old shots today. That’s his pediatrician Dr. Nation…the same guy that was taking care of me when I was four months old. Super cool.

Today was also first baby food day! On the menu was “butternut squash.” Mmmmm. We were amazed, the little piggy ate the whole jar! We’ve read that usually they don’t get much of it down the first few tries, but he took to it like a pro. Now cross your fingers baby food=10 hours of sleep.

Stop Sleeping Around

Saw this on Drudge. One-fourth of NYC residents have the herpes virus. I think it’s hilarious that the article’s suggestion is that people start taking advantage of the city’s free condom offer. Despite condoms, a ton of people have the virus, so they haven’t been very effective so far. Maybe people should stop having sex with anything that moves and focus more on the family and meaningful relationships.

Gratuitous Baby Post!

I’m burned out on the politics right now, so as requested by his Aunt, here are baby pictures. It’s late and I need to sleep, so you only get three. But they’re darn cute!
