A few days ago Lindsay posted about needing more motivation for making blog posts, and boy do I have the answer. It was staring me right in the face the whole time. You don’t need interesting stories, or a good sense of humor, just have a baby! Do it Lindsay, go make a baby, and then the posts will just fly off your fingertips and onto the screen. I pulled off 9 days of consecutive posts because of this little guy. He’s a bloggers dream. Yesterday was Easter, so that’s my excuse for breaking the streak.

The last two nights have been pretty good. We’re on a pretty flexible schedule right now, but he basically woke up twice during the night. His biggest problem is that it takes a long time to feed him. He’ll suck and suck forever and then act like he’s done and asleep, but the minute you put him down he’s awake and crying. Then it’s back to more sucking until he tops off the tank. It’s tiring for mom, so the last two days I’ve watched him in the afternoon while Stacie takes a nap. Last night I watched half of season 2 of The Office with him curled up on my chest. Good times.

Right now he’s upstairs sleeping, I’ve got our baby monitor in front of me, and Stacie is taking a shower. We got one of the fancy ones that detect movement, which I have to admit is pretty cool. Even if there are no sounds, I know he’s breathing and OK. I’ve even had enough time to plunk out a few sentences on the book this morning.

I’ve got some Easter pictures to post and a lot of video to edit, so maybe I’ll get to that this afternoon. To everyone on Spring Break, happy Spring Break to you. To everyone in Mexico without internet and not reading this, I hope you get lots of work done on the houses. To everyone wondering if they want babies, the answer is yes. Unless you’re crazy and psychopaths run in your family, then the answer is no. If you fall somewhere in between “well adjusted” and “crazy” on the sanity spectrum, please talk to my sister about whether or not you should bring a child into this world. Contrary to popular opinion, your baby should not be used as a sounding board for your conspiracy theories regarding radiation tainted trail mix. That’s crazy.

Lost is Lame

I know Angelo will probably defend the show, but I won’t let that stop me from voicing my honest frustration. Lost is lame.

I’m not sure when it happened. It might have started at the end of last season, but by the middle of this season it was in full force. Before I knew it the show got extremely retarded. The acting is fine, the scenery is great, but the story is just absolutely pathetic.

In this week’s episode there was conversation where Ben was detailing his highly intellectual game of staying in “power” with his people. I almost started laughing, because at this point in the show even the “others” are a complete joke. They live on the island with their houses….and….oh wait, that’s all. There’s no grand conspiracy or overarching plot lines, just a stupid village with a pinball machine in their rec room.

The original draw of the show, for me at least, was the mystery of the island. The writers have either cleared up all the mysteries or forgotten to write about them. Here’s a list of annoying things:

  1. Desmond can tell the future, or something, but the writers forget to give it a purpose.
  2. The Others live on the island for no apparent reason, and with no specific purpose.
  3. The Others know everything about everyone…again, for no reason.
  4. Why did the Others capture everyone at the end of last season? Jack I understand for the surgery bit, but Kate and Sawyer? So they could move rocks? Oh wait, because then they could break out later and advance the plotline.
  5. The Dharma Initiative and the hatches were huge parts of the story for over a whole season. Apparently they’re meaningless and Dharma hasn’t been around in a long time. Oh, but we can still send them pallets of food from the organization that doesn’t matter anymore.
  6. Claire hates Charlie one episode, the next episode they’re falling in love, and the next episode she hates him again. Continuity need not apply.

I could probably go on, but there’s no point (and I haven’t even mentioned the “box” idiocy). The only positive thing I can say is that the Locke background story was excellent. The backstories in previous episodes have been a complete waste of time, but at least this one revealed some new information.

Alright Lost lovers, let me have it.

Shows Are Back!

Last night Prison Break and Heroes were fresh and exciting! Oh how I’ve missed that tag-team.

Prison Break is still very interesting despite being out of the slammer (though some people have found themselves going in). The larger conspiracy the show now revolves around is still good for some heart pounding moments, but it has become much more about the characters and personal vendettas than about the conspiracy. The conspiracy storyline took a well overdue advance yesterday, and I look forward to seeing how that unfolds.

Heroes continues to amaze me. I read an article in the paper about how the writers want something "big" to happen every episode, and boy have they come through. Each episode something major is revealed, whether it’s a new character, a new power, or a new breakthrough in the overarching story. It’s hard to not compare this to Lost, so I will. Lost seems like it has been spinning it’s wheels all season. If I recall there were some episodes where the only thing they showed was Kate and Sawyer sitting in their little cells. Heroes has been able to give the viewer a little something every episode to make you feel like things are progressing. When it feels like things are going nowhere (Lost) it tends to get really boring.

Are there any favorite shows that people are watching?

Kevin Demanded An Update…

…so here it is. I’m busying scanning pictures, and I’ll have to post a couple here pretty soon. While I do that I’m also searching for old compact discs that are impossible to find. Either I owned the CD at one point and was dumb/poor enough to sell it, or I’d only downloaded it and have since lost it. Here are a few, and if you have them, I will gladly accept a copy:

Sinai – Live in Room 104
Sinai – One More Night With the Frogs
Dogwood – Through Thick and Thin
Value Pac – Incognito
Brownie Points – Waiting For Something More
F.o.N. – Awkward Silence (song from mp3.com)

I may have to accept that I will never come to hear these treasured songs again. Even now in the age of technology and piracy they are still nearly impossible to come by. How sad it is.

Well, the Dodgers were back in the playoffs today for the first time in eight years. The bad thing is they picked up right where they left off in 1996: losing. It was an ugly 8-3 defeat, but hopefully they can turn things around. I paid for internet on my phone this month just so I can watch the game while I’m at school on Thursday night.

Jesse Jackson was on the Sean Hannity show this afternoon, and he’s certifiably nuts. He was blabbing on and on about a conspiracy to hinder black people from voting. When pressed for specific examples he couldn’t give any, but of course it’s still real. It’s just like in the 2000 election when Democrats played the race card. There was not a SINGLE case brought against anyone for hindering blacks from voting. NONE. Yet of course the Democrats go around preaching it like it’s fact. Hey, if you tell yourself something enough, eventually you’ll convince yourself it’s true. I believe it’s called delusion.

Finally my poor bios. I ordered a new motherboard that came today, so I’m gonna try and install that bad boy before I go to school tonight. Wish me luck.
