Prop 4 – WAITING PERIOD AND PARENTAL NOTIFICATION BEFORE TERMINATION OF MINOR’S PREGNANCY

My Summary: From the LA Times summary: “Amend the state Constitution to bar abortions by unemancipated minors until 48 hours after a physician notifies the minor’s parent or legal guardian. Permit notification to certain adult relatives if a doctor reports the parent to law enforcement or a child protective services agency.”

My Opinion: I think this is common sense. A complex and potentially harmful procedure shouldn’t be done on someone’s underage child without the parent even knowing about it. I could go on and on about how I don’t think abortions should be available to minors at all, but that’s not even up for debate. What is being voted on is whether or not parent’s have the right to know if doctor’s are performing operations on their young daughters.

Of course the argument against this is that young pregnant women will fear their parents finding out, and then they will get a coat hanger and shove it up their wee wee and accidentally kill themselves. Or if they’re slightly more intelligent, they’ll find a guy named Smooth in the back of a tattoo parlor who will do it for them. Honestly though, and this might sound harsh, but if someone is stupid enough to do that, in the not too distant future they’ll probably end up getting themselves killed anyways do to sheer stupidity. Let’s see if that ruffles any feathers. (I’m giving it all I got!)

Bottom Line: If I have a daughter some day, and in the unfortunate event she became pregnant and went to try and get an abortion, I at least deserve to know. The government doesn’t get to make decisions for our families.

I am voting YES on Prop 4.

Prop 85 - Waiting Period and Parental Notification Before Termination of Minor’s Pregnancy. Initiative Constitutional Amendment

My Summary: Physicians would be required to notify parents 48 hours before performing an abortion on an underage girl.

My Opinion: Pretty much identical to prop 73 on the special election ballot. I am astonished that girls can have abortions without their parents ever knowing. This is a prime example of the government taking on responsibilities it shouldn’t, and all because people that are nuts in the head think they’re helping. "oooh, the poor girls are scared and will do the abortion themselves!" Oh shut up! Bring back personal responsibility where people took care of themselves! Crazy wack-job liberals instead think that the government should provide "services" for the "less privileged." Fix the roads and fight the wars and leave everything else alone!

Bottom Line: Liberals everywhere need to wake-up. Whether parents are responsible or not, stop giving them excuses! When the government starts parenting for the crappy parents they have no reason to step up and learn to be responsible for themselves. It’s perpetuating their behavior, not helping.

I am voting YES on Prop 85.

Prop 73 – Waiting period and parental notification before termination of minor’s pregnancy.

My Summary: A girl under 18 whose parents are still legal gaurdians wants to have an abortion. The physician must contact the parents 48 hours prior to performing the abortion.

My Opinion: It’s a good idea despite having loopholes. If the minor’s health is an issue, the physician can perform the abortion without notification. This can be both good and bad. Descretion is now up to the physician…how many court cases could follow this? The minor can also get a court order proving they are mature enough to have the abortion. The parents can even submit a waiver saying the physician can perform an abortion if and when the minor becomes pregnant. Point being, there are many ways around this simple notification.

Bottom Line: The government is not in charge of raising children, parents are. The government has already impowered minors to go against their parents and get an abortion, this is just a notification. When did it become the government’s job to raise our children? Never.

I am voting YES on Prop 73.
