I promise to bury this post with pictures of the baby right away, but I couldn’t pass this one up. Obama refuses to do townhall style debates with McCain. The best part of this whole exchange, which Medved pointed out on Friday, is that the heckler makes wild accusations, but Obama doesn’t even correct him. Instead he basically goes along with the question and talks about himself. My favorite is what Obama says about Sean Bell. He put out a statement saying “it was a problem.” Haha. If you’re impatient, skip ahead to around 2:30.

And people think Bush is a bad speaker? The guy can’t put together a coherent sentence without a teleprompter.

I love listening to Medved and Hewitt right now and listening to people duke it out over Huckabee and Romney. Now that Huckabee is up front he’s being scrutinized. It looks like Romney and Huck are back in a battle for Iowa. But clearly this race can go anywhere.

Something that boggles my mind though are the head-to-head matchups between Democrats and Republicans. McCain is one of the most competitive Republicans, and Obama has big leads against everyone except Giuliani.

There are only a couple weeks until voting starts in Iowa, but this race can go anywhere!

Winter Session Day 7

We’re making a webpage in Microsoft Word. Boo Yah! We haven’t done anything notable today, so I’ll just go on. Four more class sessions left after this one.

Since I have nothing amusing to say about my class I will instead talk about my favorite radio talk shows.

Larry Elder (790 KABC ~ 3-6 pm PST)
This guy is awesome. Much of his discussions revolve around race relations and various current events. As a black conservative he is a very rare breed (somewhere around 1-2% of US population). Recently he has been discussing the Alito hearings, and before that Tookie Wookie was a big one. One of my biggest draws to the show comes from his Libertarian background. He is a firm believer in personal responsibility and not crying victim.

Michael Savage (870 KRLA ~ 6-9 pm PST)
Broadcasting out of the heart of Liberalism in San Francisco, Savage tends to border on insane. This guy is an ultra-conservative, and that’s what I like about him. He doesn’t care what anyone thinks, or if anyone likes him, he just speaks his mind. I recently read his book "Liberalism Is A Mental Disorder," a good read. He will either drive you nuts or inspire you.

John Ziegler (640 KFI ~ 7-10 pm PST)
This is a newer friend of mine I’ve started listening to on the way home from school. Ziegler usually covers local events similar to John and Ken, but with a little more variety in his topics (and John and Ken start to grate on my ears after a while). Lately he’s been bashing Arnold for going soft and becoming a Democrat.

Laura Ingraham (870 KRLA ~ 6-9 am PST)
My drive to work is usually less than 10 minutes, but if I turn the radio on I dial in to Laura. She’s a fairly mainstream conservative, but not afraid to speak her mind when she disagrees with the Republican party. If she disagrees with the President or his policies, she will come right out and say it. Pretty much 100% politically driven.

Other Notables…

Sean Hannity – I listend to Sean non-stop during the 2004 Presedential campaign. Overall I enjoy his show, but he’s a little too mainstream for my liking. He tends to not be quite as objective as some of the other guys I listen to, but he’s still very good

Michael Medved – He would be at the top of my list, except I’m working while he’s on. He is very intellectual and value driven. He is a firm believer that Judeo-Christian values have made this country great, and he discusses how many liberal ideas/values go against those Judeo-Christian values (like family).

Dennis Prager – Very philosophically driven (and like Medved he is Jewish), this is probably the most intellectual show on the airwaves. He loves to discuss morality and is great brain stimulation. Unfortunately he is on from 9 am-Noon, so I never get to hear him.

Those are pretty much all the people I usually listen to. Sometimes I have to take a break and listen to some music, but talk radio is excellent brain food. Flip over to AM the next time you’re bored with FM.

Left VS Right

I was about to post the following in the previous post, but it decided to turn into a post of its own.

On Christmas Day I was at my in-laws for lunch, and my 90 year old grandpa-in-law was there. The television was on and a headline about the President flashed across the screen. At the sight of this my grandpa-in-law turns to me and makes a comment about how the President is listening to my phone conversations. Several months ago he was talking about how the President was going to get rid of his social security. Now I know the guy is 90, and I’m not going to tell him how wrong he is, but it is so sad to see how is opinion is shaped by the crazy talking heads on television, and what an incomplete and inaccurate view he holds. The NSA story has nothing to do with domestic wiretaps (and luckily I’m not in Al Qaeda) and social security would have been guaranteed for someone his age.

Does he know any of that? Nope, because he listens to the Bush haters. Do yourself a favor and download videos from The Political Teen over the past couple of weeks. Just go along and right click and save a whole bunch of the WMVs. Pay close attention to the attitudes and strategies used by the Left to argue their points. Their reliance on emotion and yelling and Bush hating is just mind-blowing. The left wingers are always interrupting and twisting words, while the right wingers are calm and discussing the facts.

I would much rather be on the side of Prager, Medved, Elder, Coulter, Savage, and all the other intelligent people on the right side of the aisle than with people like Franken, Moore, Carville, Sheehan, Dean, and Jesse Jackson on the left side.

You might think you know what side of the aisle you’re on, but do you know who is there with you?

What? The USA is OK?

John Ziegler was arguing last night that if a Democrat were in the White House public opinion of the economy and war would be quite different. We would be hearing about how the economy is booming (in spite of 9/11 and Katrina, and like we always did under Clinton), the war in Afghanistan was a huge success removing the Taliban, and how the Iraq war is going well (fast victory, Saddam is gone, country is rebuilding). Except all we hear about is what a failure everything is, it’s ridiculous. Even Joe Lieberman is saying Iraq is going well (alternate link if you dismiss FOX News just because it’s FOX News). Thank goodness for alternative media and the truth. By alternative media I include the internet (Drudge, blogs, etc), and radio talk shows (Elder, Savage, Medved, etc).
