I wants me some new Star Trek with Sylar from Heroes!

Go watch Trailer 2….now! I recommend the HD version and a subwoofer.

’07-’08 TV

Thought it was about time to discuss the shows everyone is watching…or at least what I’m watching. :p

Mondays
Prison Break – A fan since season 1, this season is a step-up from last season in my opinion. While it’s a little cheesy that they’re back in a prison, it’s back to the formula that made the original so great: find a way to escape. I think season 1 will stand as the best, but they give me enough to come back each week.

How I Met Your Mother – This is the show with Doogie Howser. We started watching it last season, and it’s amusing. It’s a good half-hour show to watch when you need something short.

Two and a Half Men – A very raunchy show, but very funny at the same time. Not a big Charlie Sheen fan in real life, but he’s hilarious on the show.

HEROES – The breakout hit of ’06-’07 is back and better than ever. The formula hasn’t changed, and it’s something I love about the show. The writers are awesome at keeping your interest peaked from episode to episode. I love it.

Tuesdays

Beauty and the Geek – Yes, we like our reality shows, and this is a fun one. It’s fun to see the crazy stuff they do and the big changes that a handful of them go through.

House – Still a great show, and it’s fun seeing where the new hiring process is going. I still don’t know who will join the show permanently and who is temporary, and House is still one of the best characters on TV.

Wednesdays
Kid Nation – It’s all about Jarrod, who hasn’t been in the last couple episodes a ton. What a rip. It’s funny how 6 or 7 episodes in, there are still kids who you have never seen or heard from. The interaction between the all is both annoying and entertaining at times.

Thursdays
Survivor – Still our number one reality show, I don’t think we’ll ever get tired of it. The characters change each season with new people to love and hate, and the strategy of the game is unlike anything else.

My Name is Earl – The jail twist is fun. I don’t know if it will last all season, but they’ve already had one episode that wasn’t almost all a flashback. The creative writing episode was definitely outside the box.

The Office – Season 2 was the greatest, but there have still been some awesome moments in season 4. I haven’t watched episode 5 to see what Denise is talking about, but this is still my favorite comedy.

That’s all the shows we watch each week. Feel free to discuss them or anything else that you like. I’ll also preempt Angelo’s comments that you still don’t watch Heroes, Prison Break isn’t as good, and the Office isn’t as funny. I’ll also predict that Doogie Howser isn’t funny, and reality television is lame. :)

I feel like posting, but I’ve used up my allotment of words for the day. I think that was around third period actually. Regardless, I will think of something.

Peaches. Millions of peaches. Peaches for me.
No, scratch that.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is in “trouble” for firing 8 or something district attorneys, and Democrats are having a field day. It wasn’t a big deal when Janet Reno fired ALL 93 when Clinton took office. They serve at the pleasure of the President. There’s nothing illegal about getting rid of them. See, elections do matter!

No, scratch that. Nobody comments on my political posts, as evidenced by “Blarg Stats.” According to that, teaching and television garner the greatest amount of responses. Let’s give that a go.

Have you seen that new TV show about TEACHING. Oh man, the comments are going to roll in now! I’ll try them separate now.

Teaching is going well. State testing is coming up. I might have time to chew through some more of the Dark Tower series. I’m stuck on book 5. Oops, that’s about books, not teaching. I cut up a soda can today to explain that the lateral side of a cylinder is a rectangle. It was cool!

Oh look, this paragraph is about television. Heroes resumed last night. WOW. Oh, and last week’s survivor was downright awesome. It was possibly the greatest episode ever. Trent knows what I’m talking about.

I cleaned the laptop yesterday because it was really gross looking. The I key on the laptop is completely without the letter I. The letters O, L, N, S, and E are also rubbing off. Good thing I know how to touch type. I guess I should stop going around typing “E LIONS” all the time. That’s all I could spell using those letters.

The only movie I’m super excited about right now is TRANSFORMERS. Holy cow that looks sweet.

Super cool band called All Time Low.

THE END

During all of my DDT research I found this amusing study. When kids think they’re superheroes, they can get hurt.

What I want to know is, do people wake up one day and decide to research this? Maybe they have young children that got hurt jumping off the couch in their Superman outfit. Kevin and other people with young children, beware!

Update: I don’t know how I missed this, but it’s hilarious.  “The children we saw have all had to contemplate on their way to hospital that they do not in fact possess superpowers.” It’s only the abstract, but that’s all you need.

I want to post, but I don’t have anything specific to talk about. Ever since the last election I really haven’t cared about politics that much. I still have opinions, and I still love talk radio, but I just don’t care enough to post on here and try to convince anyone. Maybe I need some big issue/topic to come around that really lights a fire beneath me, but that hasn’t happened yet.

I’m working on my novel idea, and it’s an amazingly big project. Granted I’ve never written a 100k+ word story, so this is brand new territory for me. I started with a central theme which I could tell you in one sentence, but that has to turn into numerous characters and a lot more detail to be a full story. It’s been a slow process with lots of changes, but it’s gradually taking shape. I’ve done a lot of reading about port security and nuclear weapons, but that’s all I can tell you right now. :) Typing about it makes me want to go work on it, so I should finish this up.

MRI is moving to San Diego! Congratulations!

I played Wario Ware the other day at a friends house. It was actually pretty fun, but not for $50. If it comes down in price I’d get it.

Heroes on Monday was downright SICK! I believe that’s the new cool word for, well, “cool.” It’s so SICK, I bet it would even be cool in regular non-hdtv.

Ok, I’m outta here.

Have a Great Week

Nothing very exciting to report. I got a little sick yesterday, but here’s hoping it’s a short cold. We went over to MRI’s house on Friday for some food and social activity which was nice. She finds out today where she gets to do her internship, so give her site a visit. I’m sure it will be up as soon as she knows.

I found this cool tv ratings chart that shows all the primetime shows and their ratings. Good to see Heroes is just as popular if not a little more than 24 going head to head in the same time slot.

Hope everyone has a great week doing whatever it is you do.

Shows Are Back!

Last night Prison Break and Heroes were fresh and exciting! Oh how I’ve missed that tag-team.

Prison Break is still very interesting despite being out of the slammer (though some people have found themselves going in). The larger conspiracy the show now revolves around is still good for some heart pounding moments, but it has become much more about the characters and personal vendettas than about the conspiracy. The conspiracy storyline took a well overdue advance yesterday, and I look forward to seeing how that unfolds.

Heroes continues to amaze me. I read an article in the paper about how the writers want something "big" to happen every episode, and boy have they come through. Each episode something major is revealed, whether it’s a new character, a new power, or a new breakthrough in the overarching story. It’s hard to not compare this to Lost, so I will. Lost seems like it has been spinning it’s wheels all season. If I recall there were some episodes where the only thing they showed was Kate and Sawyer sitting in their little cells. Heroes has been able to give the viewer a little something every episode to make you feel like things are progressing. When it feels like things are going nowhere (Lost) it tends to get really boring.

Are there any favorite shows that people are watching?

The Blarg Is Annoyed

The Blarg is annoyed. Over the weekend the internet started acting stupid. I’m pretty sure it’s a phone line issue because I hear crackling on the telephone, and listening to the dial tone actually helps the dsl sync back up and start working again. I called the stupid tech support line and it’s entirely automated and annoying. Supposedly someone is coming out by Thursday.

Not only has the internet sucked, but the router/modem Verizon supplies really sucks too. My new Snazio networked media player keeps getting dropped off the network. For absolutely no reason it will all of a sudden be unable to contact the computer upstairs. We’re talking mid-use while it’s working fine…then all of a sudden BAM, nothing. I’ve read about all kinds of horror stories people have had with this modem, so I’ll be calling to try and get a replacement (and hopefully a modem only version if they have those). I don’t want to get into that crap until I get the phone line fixed. Arg!

At least Heroes rocks! OMG! Nathan is flying, Hiro meets Nathan, Peter paints crazy future stuff, scary dad guy can walk through walls. WOW!
