Politics Round-Up

I’m at work and want to post, so I went to Foxnews.com and picked the three main stories that were up (sorry John, two are written by foxnews). :)

Sept. 11 Panel Gives a Bad Report!
Yah whatever. Some Hadley guy said "We are safer, but not yet safe." Durrr. Will we ever be truly "safe?" No, not as long as evil people want to kill us. We can take steps to make our country safer, and use our military to reduce terrorist supporting dictators, but we will never be 100% safe.

Bush Touts Strong Economy
Holy cow people are dumb. Yes, the economy is doing well (though only 37% of people think Bush is doing a good job on the economy). The economy is growing, and unemployment is at 5% (better than 10%+ socialist countries in Europe).

Saddam Yells at the Judge
Put a muzzle on him! Seriously, he shouldn’t be allowed to yell at the judge. Put him in the shoe! When my kids yell out in class there is punishment. While Saddam makes himself look like a complete fool everytime he appears, he should be in chains and in an orange jumpsuit.

Xbox 360 Is Out

xbox 360 releasedThe Xbox 360 was released today. Sadly I don’t care (sorry Mike). I’m afraid I’m getting old, and things like a new console launch aren’t as exciting as they used to be. Other possible explanations are that it costs $400, and the one ad I saw for the new Perfect Dark game wasn’t that impressive. The only game I play anymore is MVP Baseball from last year. Xbox 360 is in HD though, which is way cool. I’ll wait for Mike’s first post about it and see what he thinks.

Oh, and this is the fourth post in a row with a picture! Boy am I spoiling you guys. This picture was again taken from Foxnews. I couldn’t help but notice how very excited the man in this picture is. It looks like the Xbox 360 is actually his biological son whom he has just been reunited with after 18 years lost in the Alps. Definitly a kodak moment.

Genghis Khan Is Dead

genghis khan george bush So I found this picture on Foxnews, and realized it was the perfect subject of my second "That Doesn’t Make Sense" column.

So I don’t know what’s going on here, but I think it’s pretty clear: George Bush is hanging out with some guy who thinks he’s Genghis Khan. First of all, the guy playing Genghis Khan is clearly Russian, not Philipino. Second, the guy on the right is waving the Romanian flag, and he’s wearing different colors than Genghis Khan. If they’re supposed to be mortal enemies, they don’t look like they’re in perpetual violence fighting for the survival of their tribe. Third, the girl to the left is wearing a metal bra.

Now for George Bush, he’s clearly trying to barter with Genghis. He is saying "If you let me join your dojo, do I get a cool horse like that? In turn I will trade you this schmuck behind me that can’t stop smiling about the metal bra joke." The guy playing Genghis Khan can’t stop laughing and he keeps muttering something about meeting James Bond. I think they are going to jump President Bush into their gang now.

The key to a good website is that people want to come back to it. Take www.foxnews.com for example. It’s probably updated every half-hour, so there is always something new to see. I try and update The Blarg! everyday so people have something to come back and see. Everytime someone goes to a site that hasn’t been updated since the last time they went, the length of time until their next visit is probably even longer.

If you visit my friends’ sites on the right, you’ll notice they aren’t very happening. Mike hasn’t updated in a month, Kurtis hasn’t updated since January, and I think Chris got a MySpace. Andrew hasn’t updated in two weeks, but he’s still recovering from school. Amy updates semi-regularly, and Paloma sometimes takes a week to post, but they’re super long.

I’ve almost been posting on this mostly pointless site for a year now, cool huh? This is really the second version of The Blarg!, which used to be on theburn.com. I think I transferred it over late 2004, and since then I’ve almost hit 5000 hits. WoW! I’ll have to make a super special post for the 5000th hit. Ok, this is boring.

Post-Debate Impressions

Comments off

The debate wasn’t too exciting. Kerry attacked Bush the whole time for waging the “wrong war at the wrong time,” and Bush stuck to his “stay the course” type message.

What really bugged me were all the dopey media people afterwards. Oh how I long for cable TV and Foxnews. ABC had a “quick poll” that showed about 15% more people thought Kerry won the debate, but that President Bush’s lead on Kerry held (they both received 1% more vote than pre-debate). Then of course the crazy media people went on and on how it was some big win for Kerry, but completely ignored that it didn’t change anyone’s mind. I’m not really sure why they think Kerry was the winner…because he was on the “offensive” more? So whoever criticizes the other more wins? John Kerry doesn’t have any plan for Iraq except that he would do it “better,” whatever the heck that means, and he wins?

I love talk radio and the blogosphere, and not so I can here opinions and points of view that are similar to mine, but so I can hear some sanity in the midst of such doofs.
