Reflection Time

I don’t have anything of note to post about, and I don’t feel like posting about anything political. The recent rain has put me in relax mode, so I think it’s a good time to reflect.

I looked back at my posts from March of last year. I had just taken my first CSET test, was planning the honeymoon, and we went into escrow on our place. It’s amazing how much your life can change in the course of a year. Events that seem so far away sneak up on you when you aren’t looking. Living in the present is something I think a lot of people, including myself, struggle with. While looking forward to the future is not bad, I do think it’s easy to let the future overshadow the present. To see our lives in terms of major events can often reduce the value of the present. Whether it’s finishing school, passing a test, getting married, moving out, or getting a job, I think it’s important to stop and enjoy your time leading up to those events. When we focus completely on a future event, sometimes the present becomes taxing, and just another "task" to survive.

I rarely get philosophical here on the blarg, but maybe it will inspire you enough to enjoy a Tuesday. I know I’m enjoying mine.

I ate the CSET for breakfast.

I showed the CSET who’s boss.

I made the CSET cry like a little baby who wants its mommy.

I saw the CSET on the corner today and it ran into oncoming traffic when it saw me approaching.

I passed the CSET.

Boo Ya!

No Job, Yay Fridge

Comments off

Well, the job at East didn’t work out. If only I had passed my CSET a little bit earlier. :) It’s ok, there will be other possibilities. I’ve got been June 20th when I found out about my test and the beginning of school to find another job. Here’s for hoping!

On a happier note, Stacie and I bought a refrigerator. Freakin’ exciting huh? haha. It’s funny how what you find fun and exciting changes as you age. When I was 7 ninja turtles ruled, but now that I’m 23 a new refrigerator is cool. Gotta love that.

Today I took and passed my CSET, but for a few hours prior to that I was sitting at McDonald’s studying. Let me suggest to you, that if you are ever bored, go sit at a McDonald’s. The people and events you will see or both annoying and hilarious at the same time.

Lonely Babies

Most normal and intelligent mothers do NOT leave their babies alone, especially in a public place such as McDonald’s. However, today I witnessed two women leave their THREE babies alone.

While this was slightly annoying, it became quite amusing. Two children had salt shakers, which they were banging on the table and licking and having a great time. The third kid however had a pepper shaker. When he turned red and starting crying from licking the pepper shaker, my annoyance towards the mothers turned to amusement. I have a feeling that kid will be eating paint chips when he’s older.

The Math Whiz

A little while after the babies left, a guy/girl couple came in, roughly 18 years old. They proceeded to order their food and then found a nearby table. The conversation I overheard was quite funny. The girl had the health information sheet for McDonald’s and was reading it. And I quote:

Girl: "Chicken Selects have 1240 calories. That’s like your daily quotient of food. The 10 piece Chicken Selects are death."

While she was funny, her boyfriend was the math whiz. I assume the girl had only partially eaten her hamburger when she turned to him and said:

Girl: What’s 2/3 of 460?
Guy: 90?
Girl: Wow, you can do math in your head?

Hurry, go to McDonald’s, now.

AL…..MOST…..THERE!

The end is in sight. This is officially my last super duper ultimately crazy week. I finished off my last week of school stuff to do, but I’ve got a bunch more this week. Time for another list!

1) EDP 302 Final
2) Study for CSET: Geometry (Wednesday)
3) Study for CSET: Geometry (Thursday)
4) Study for CSET: Geometry (Friday)
5) Interview at East for a job
6) Take CSET: Geometry at Cypress High School

Well, it’s all over. I’m confident I passed the CSET, and I’ve yet to hear about the job at East. Not getting my hopes up, but I’ve got until school starts to get a job, so we shall see!

Sorry, my brain hurts too much to think of witty posts. I finished Disclosure by Michael Crichton in two days, it was ok. Now I’m reading Airframe. Once I finish that I can move on to more fantasy.

I’ve decided to make a list of all the junk I need to do for school, and cross stuff off the list as I accomplish it.

1) Prepare for EDSE 457 Final
2) Take EDSE 457 Final
3) Complete EDSE 436 Professional Development assignment
4) Complete EDSE 436 Project
5) Give EDSE 436 Presentation
6) Complete EDP 302 Research Paper
7) Complete EDSE 457 Project
8) Give EDSE 457 Presentation

I love making lists, I should do it more. It tends to make tasks seem more surmountable. What do you do to accomplish stuff you just can’t stand?

Yay, it’s all done! I’ve got one final next week, and my upcoming CSET in a week and a half, but I’m not adding those to this list. :)

The Final Countdown!

There are officially three more weeks of complete and utter craziness left.

Week #1: This week is relatively quiet. No projects are due, and just one final exam to take. The problem is that week #2 is so crazy work is spilling into week #1.

Week #2: In the second week I have two presentations, two papers due (one being 10 pages), and two projects due. Beginning today I must kick it into overdrive to even finish all that before week #2.

Week #3: While not as busy, this is the last week leading into my second CSET Math test on Geometry. Several long days of studying this week will be in order.

And then, on May 21st at roughly 7 pm, it will all be over. School will be done with, the CSET will be done with, and I can move on to more exciting things. I can actually enjoy getting ready for the wedding, and working at our new townhouse. Just a little…bit….longer.

CSET Test #1…..

PASS!

Boo ya! One down, one to go. Of course they don’t tell me how well I did, which is annoying. Oh well, same result regardless. Now just one more to own on.
