Where Did April Go?

It sure seems like April came and went in a flash. We’ve been so caught up with house stuff it went by super fast.

We’re officially up in the MLS. I personally took the pictures of our place, and I’m quite proud of how they came out! If you know where we live you can look it up on Redfin.

We’re still narrowing down exactly what areas we want to look in, but we’re not looking too seriously yet. We need to sell our house first, so no point falling in love with a place we won’t get.

We definitely like Rossmoor though. Great neighborhood, and awesome schools. They even have a before and after school program where you can drop off early and pickup late for a small fee. Not to mention it’s only 15-20 mins from work.

But we shall see. Please keep the whole thing in your prayers!

We’re Moving!

Technically we’re just selling right now, but eventually that will lead to moving.

Now if I’d had a crystal ball, we’d probably have moved 3-4 years ago, but the place I ordered from is still backordered. But it looks like prices have stabilized, and I doubt they go back up anytime soon, so we’re selling.

Luke isn’t school aged yet, but he will be soon. We don’t want him going to school here, so we’ve always planned on moving. I’m not sure where we’ll end up, but somewhere in the Rossmoor/Seal Beach direction. Not too far from work, but in an area we’d like to see Luke grow up (and us grow old).

House should be on the market within the week, and we’ll go from there. This last week we’ve been working like mad trying to make the place look good (boy do we have too many toys!). I’d love to sell and be somewhere new before summer’s end, but who knows. And since we’re doing a standard sale and trying to avoid any contingency, there’s a good chance we might have to squat at a parents house for a while.

Should be interesting!

Take That Garbage Disposal!

Funny smell in kitchen. Ignored for a week. Finally investigated under sink. Found two leaks on the garbage disposal. Took off today, discovered super corroded drain. Realize it will never seal again. Replace. Feel like a real man. You enjoy pictures.

Gingerbread Keyboard on 2.2

I’m testing the new gingerbread keyboard on Android 2.2! Someone put it up on the market for download. Just search for “Keyboard from Android 2.3.”

Overall it’s a major improvement. Typing in portrait is actually doable now. I also dig the new color scheme. I’m still waiting for Gingerbread on my nexus one, but this will keep me happy until then.

Laters 2010

It’s New Year’s Eve…and I guess you’re supposed to reflect on your life!

For me, 2010 was good. Nothing too eventful, but it was a good year. We both have jobs, a home, a healthy son, and a loving family. Is there really anything else we need?

I don’t have any huge 2011 goals to speak of. I turn 30 this year, but I’m well on my way to being in the best shape of my life. That’s been a recent goal of mine…to be in better shape at 30 than I was at 20. In addition to running, I want to start the 100 push-ups and 200 sit-ups in a row programs. Talk about a cheap exercise plan!

Otherwise, it’s nice being an adult, and being comfortable with where you are (and who you are). Of course we have goals for our future, but it’s nice being able to enjoy the here and now. I remember being in college and just dying to have it all done with.

So wherever you are in life, whether you’re just starting out and can’t wait for the future to get here, or you love exactly where you’re at, or you’ve got big plans and this is your year to carve out a new path in life, I hope 2011 is a great one.

Merry Christmas

This is Luke’s third Christmas, but the first one he really gets. He wanted a Christmas tree, he knew Santa would bring him presents, and I started to tell him about this guy named baby Jesus.

I had fun setting up the video camera to catch his expression coming down the stairs (now that I think about it, why do all dramatic Christmas unveils require stairs?)

Most importantly I get to spend time with family all day. I hope everyone is blessed by the love of Christ, family, and friends.

Merry Christmas everybody.

A few weeks back I found out about something called vinyl toys! They’re collectible figures, usually around 3 inches tall, that come in “blind boxes.” The box usually tells you the odds of landing a certain figure, but you don’t know what you’ve got until you open it!

Now these Android toys were made by an artist named Andrew Bell, and he does some pretty cool stuff. These were very limited edition, and getting some meant following his twitter to find out when he would release more in his store. I think he usually released around 50-100 each time, but they were sold out in minutes. At first I just wanted to get a couple…but then I got the fever. I wanted them ALL! So I bought as many as I could to build my set, got a couple for my brother, and then sold the rest on ebay.

The three guys in the middle on the bottom are called “chase” figures, because they are rarer than the rest. They’re not even listed on the box. The guy in the middle is so rare that only 6 or so have shown up on ebay in the last month. I had to buy him, and I traded for the APK android on the right. I got duplicates of the invader one (looks like a game of space invaders on him), so I traded my duplicate with a guy in Ohio.

And finally, they come in cases of 16, and luckily I was able to get one of them. That’s the box they’re on top of, and it makes a really cool display piece. Not sure I’ll ever go this crazy about another vinyl toy, but it’s a fun collection to have.
