One Day Zombie

I did it…I went a whole month without a post…how sad. February was a short month though, so if I add an extra day to that month, then today would only be March 16th, and I wouldn’t be dead yet. Makes perfect sense.

Luke is three now! On one hand it feels like it has gone by fast, but on the other we see pictures of him at 6 months old and I can barely remember it. We’re getting the hang of going potty, which is great. We love Bob the Builder and fixing things!

Otherwise nothing too exciting is going on (guess that’s why I haven’t posted!). Now for some quick hits:

  • I have 29 unique Androids now between series 1 and 2. I’m missing two from this new series, but they’re chases, and will easily cost me $75 a piece on ebay. Meh.
  • I’ve been playing FF13 for 83 hours (and yes, I’m finally getting bored.) But I’ve got one or two trophies I’m soooo close to getting, haha.
  • Can’t wait for baseball season to start.
  • Running got a little sidetracked. Tweaked my back painting ceilings, so I wasn’t running as much as usual. I’m really going to have to push, but I think I can still reach my goal.
  • Almost done with Dexter – Season 1. Enjoying it very much.

Guess that’s all for now!

Firefly and Serenity

I remember seeing the movie Serenity back when it came out in 2005, but I had never seen the TV series of Firefly that it was based on. Over the last month or so Stacie and I watched the 15 episode series, and then capped it off with the movie last night. I have to say, it was a darned good series. I don’t know how it didn’t do well, but at the same time, I can’t remember it ever being on! It’s certainly light years better than most of the stuff on sci-fi.

If you’ve never seen the series, I highly recommend it. The Serenity movie gives pretty good closure too, so you’re not left hanging.

…is now going to be the most famous! Paloma is going to be on SURVIVOR! I was reading about one of the other players, and then I saw her picture I was like no way! So not only is this season in HD, but it also has someone I know. I used to give her rides to school in High School, and she used to live on my street. This is crazy! GO PALOMA!

New season premieres on Thursday, September 25th. It’s on at 8 pm on CBS. Do I feel a survive night get together?

Wipeout Rules!

You know that stupid Wipeout show that ABC has been advertising for close to 2 months? It was on last night, we recorded it, and it ROCKS! American Gladiators can’t hold a candle to this show. There are 24 contestants competing through the first obstacle course. The 12 fastest move on to the next round where they have to jump over a rotating bar. The first 6 to get knocked off are out, and the final 6 move on. Two more get kicked out in another event, until the final four proceed to the ultimate obstacle course where the winning time gets $50k.

When I started to watch the show I had super low expectations. They had two announcers, which I thought was odd, but as it turns out, they make fun of the contestants the entire show, and it’s hilarious. Unlike American Gladiators they are showing someone running an obstacle course almost the entire show with very little downtime. The funniest part is that most of the obstacles are downright impossible, but it’s awesome watching people try and fail.

It’s on Tuesday at 8pm on ABC, so check it out. We also started to watch the Japanese gameshow one, and it was terrible. Do not waste your time.

Survivor 17 is in HD!

For the first time ever Survivor will be in High Definition! The next season doesn’t start until the fall, but I’m super excited. Survivor was the first major reality show, and now it’s going HD! Here’s hoping this leads other reality shows to move to HD. I’m crossing my fingers it’s true HD and not 16×9 SD (like some of Hell’s Kitchen), though either are better than what we’ve got now.

’07-’08 TV

Thought it was about time to discuss the shows everyone is watching…or at least what I’m watching. :p

Mondays
Prison Break – A fan since season 1, this season is a step-up from last season in my opinion. While it’s a little cheesy that they’re back in a prison, it’s back to the formula that made the original so great: find a way to escape. I think season 1 will stand as the best, but they give me enough to come back each week.

How I Met Your Mother – This is the show with Doogie Howser. We started watching it last season, and it’s amusing. It’s a good half-hour show to watch when you need something short.

Two and a Half Men – A very raunchy show, but very funny at the same time. Not a big Charlie Sheen fan in real life, but he’s hilarious on the show.

HEROES – The breakout hit of ’06-’07 is back and better than ever. The formula hasn’t changed, and it’s something I love about the show. The writers are awesome at keeping your interest peaked from episode to episode. I love it.

Tuesdays

Beauty and the Geek – Yes, we like our reality shows, and this is a fun one. It’s fun to see the crazy stuff they do and the big changes that a handful of them go through.

House – Still a great show, and it’s fun seeing where the new hiring process is going. I still don’t know who will join the show permanently and who is temporary, and House is still one of the best characters on TV.

Wednesdays
Kid Nation – It’s all about Jarrod, who hasn’t been in the last couple episodes a ton. What a rip. It’s funny how 6 or 7 episodes in, there are still kids who you have never seen or heard from. The interaction between the all is both annoying and entertaining at times.

Thursdays
Survivor – Still our number one reality show, I don’t think we’ll ever get tired of it. The characters change each season with new people to love and hate, and the strategy of the game is unlike anything else.

My Name is Earl – The jail twist is fun. I don’t know if it will last all season, but they’ve already had one episode that wasn’t almost all a flashback. The creative writing episode was definitely outside the box.

The Office – Season 2 was the greatest, but there have still been some awesome moments in season 4. I haven’t watched episode 5 to see what Denise is talking about, but this is still my favorite comedy.

That’s all the shows we watch each week. Feel free to discuss them or anything else that you like. I’ll also preempt Angelo’s comments that you still don’t watch Heroes, Prison Break isn’t as good, and the Office isn’t as funny. I’ll also predict that Doogie Howser isn’t funny, and reality television is lame. :)

Kid Nation…

…or should I say JARED Nation!

Last night we watched Kid Nation, the reality tv whores that we are. Before I even get to the show itself, it’s worth watching solely for a kid named Jared.

He made the entire show worthwhile. He’s totally crazy, and everything he says is hilarious. Not to mention that if you visit his bio link, he says Clinton was dishonest. How hilarious is that?

As for the show itself, it’s entertaining. Some of the bickering made me feel like I was at work, but the interaction is interesting. I’m not sure the backlash is necessary, and that the parents are evil for subjecting their kids to this. I never hear complaints when parents put their kids in commercials and beauty pageants, etc.

I’ll wait for all the fall shows start to do a big TV post.

The TMobile commercial where the kids all get out their sidekicks and decide to meet at the market was on. They proceed to have a big race in the store amidst everyone else’s normal shopping.

I can’t stand this commercial. It’s annoying that they’re running around the store. I’d be pissed if I was one of the customers, or the store owner. There’s one scene where they knock over a stand of toilet paper. If it weren’t for that scene I wouldn’t mind as much. If they simply raced through the store and left it in the same condition, then it wouldn’t be so bad. But when they start screwing with the fictitious store it screws with human decency!

I have another pet peeve to rant about, and that’s the stupid commercials urging me to conserve energy. Don’t make me feel bad for using electricity that I’M paying for, only because the people that run this state are too stupid to build new electric plants. It’s against the law to build new nuclear power plants, while France makes billions of Euros exporting extra energy.

One specific commercial I’ve heard claims that if every person replaced 1 regular bulb with a fluorescent, it would take thousands of cars of the road. Whoa, hold on. If my light bulb were powered by a nuclear reactor, how the flip would using less energy have anything to do with carbon emissions? Are they assuming all our power is from burning coal?

I wish politicians would stop screaming that energy is evil. I’m tired of their crap.

Edit: New nuclear plants in development.
