Prop 1C is the worst of the money shifters. How bout I borrow from my future lottery winnings to buy a house? Think a lender will give me a loan?

i think you've just about said it nathan

the propositions pretty much all read like 'voodoo-math' shifting money for a couple years and then borrowing against assets all so the budget can double-triple implode two years from now

politicians are good at spending, especially because the voters demand it; but cuts are nearly impossible to come by, and when they do, it is usually for something worthwhile that just bites us a few years later.

their sorta needs to be a way to get a budget balanced

maybe if tax payers were allowed to vote on where their tax dollars went??? (i guess the tv would be nonstop full of issue ads, wouldn't wanna ruin tube time)

They should have the special election after everyone has a chance to pay their increased car registration.

It's just bizarre how California works. This is the state where unions call a decrease in the proposed increase in spending a spending cut.

A huge portion of the state budget comes from personal income tax and sales tax which is very volatile when the economy is volatile. If we have wild upward swings in spending then it is only natural to have downward swings in spending. But it's cool, let's just borrow money from future lottery revenue or something.

Teachers are being cut because of the budget shortfalls. Our district is increasing class sizes at the elementary level and not hiring some teachers back. The annoying thing is that I haven't heard about a single district office employee who is losing their job.
