I was going to make a political post, but let’s face it, that’s boring. And this, Little Big Planet, is far more exciting than anything political.

Little Big Planet is a new game coming out for the PS3 in a couple weeks on October 21st. It’s hard to categorize the game, because it’s in a category all to itself. Just watch the videos. It’s amazing.

I assumed the calculations were something inherent in the game, but apparently someone designed and built it himself. Now that’s crazy.

Yah, I should have mentioned that. It’s purely mechanical, which is nuts.

A quick explanation of a cool little test I did. I made a see saw, and on one end I put a hunk of metal. When I jumped on the other end, the board would bend slightly, but the metal clearly weighed more than I did.

Then I changed the metal to cardboard, and this time when I jumped, the seesaw moved! The physics are so cool because they just make sense.

People will probably make some pretty crazy stuff, too bad there isn’t a list view you can sort on plays and likes to find stuff easier.

I know they’ve said that in the final version there will be a star rating system, but I’m not sure what other changes there will be. I’ve also read that the beta doesn’t contain everything that will be available to the end user in the retail. Like in one of those videos there is “ice,” but I can’t find it anywhere in the beta.

It will definitely be a game that gets better with age, something I’ve already seen people mention when talking about game reviews. A review of the game the day it comes out would be quite different than 6 months or a year later.
