You Win Some and Lose Some

Obviously not the outcome I was hoping for last night on Super Tuesday, but such is the world of politics. You can’t win them all. You support your candidate the best you can, and the chips will fall where they may.

Hugh Hewitt had a very good outlook this morning. If McCain is going to be the nominee, then I will support him 100%. If you get bent out of shape when your candidate doesn’t win, then your feelings are far too sensitive for politics. Whether it is Obama or Hillary in November, I will fully support the Republican nominee that goes against them. Hugh thinks Romney and Huckabee should stay in purely to make the mainstream media pay attention to the Republican race, which I think is a great idea. Hopefully we can see McCain and Romney mend some fences and make a nice ticket.

That being said, there is a long battle ahead for the future of this country. Will it be a country of smaller government and strong national security, or a country that adopts National Healthcare, higher taxes, and pro-choice judges? Once the nomination process is completed the real debate begins.

Well Romney’s out so McCain it is. Huckabee will have to be careful about how he continues if he wants to get on the ticket as VP.

He also said that if Hillary or Obama win, the terrorists win. I don’t think that sits well with Americans.

You don’t like Romney, we get the idea. With Hillary and Obama both screaming at the top of their lungs about ending the war, something the terrorists would prefer, then I think Romney is being accurate. But hey, you’ve got your finger on the pulse of the American people, so I won’t argue with you.

Still waiting for your posts about the moderate principles you hold so dear. I’d even settle for a short bulleted list.

I’m ok with Romney. He wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen. I prefer McCain. And far preferable to Hillary or Obama, I just wish he would have bowed out more gracefully and allowed for more options in the future. I’m not mad or happy, I’m disappointed that a strong conservative candidate had a fau-paw (spelling?)

I know what he meant about the terrorist thing, which I agree with, but when the left-slanted media pulls out that one line out of context, it seems like he is calling them terrorists, which I feel hurt him.

Well they did it… I officially don’t care for the election much anymore… Let the Dems fight it over. I’ll vote for McCain because even Crazy Gramps is better than Barack-Dak-Dooey or Billary The Shreaking Crow…

We made the wrong decision on the Republican side… our Economy will be the biggest issue into the next decade and having a president who has no idea about Economy is scary to me. A conservative businessman would’ve been a great choice. Lets at least hope Gramps sudden change in heart over our borders hold true… but I doubt it.

I think Romney’s exit speech was barley that… I think he didn’t think through it much and it felt awkward at times. The best statement he made was when he admitted (rather candidly) how hard of a decision it was and how he didn’t like to lose and how he was doing this because of his love for America (really it just didn’t make sense to move on)… I really felt bummed at that point (as did the audience) because I do think he would’ve done well with the country.

I don’t think his speech ruins his chances of running again… more likely it will be McCain winning and then running for re-election he will automatically get the nomination. Romney knew he was DONE unless something totally random happend.

Oh well.

Honestly, I wonder why I care when it seems the USA is rampant with people who don’t seem to get it. I bet they probably say the same about the right wing, but a vote for McCain, Hillary, or Obama is a vote for BIG government, which I am strongly against. Leave me the (insert expletive here) alone! I looked at my paycheck yesterday and figured that the crooks in D.C. & the State are jacking me of over 30% of my life/earnings annually. Take a look at your check and if that doesn’t piss you off, you’re living in the wrong country. And sometimes I wonder why I don’t donate money to charity. Well, that’s easy, it gets donated for me to the charity of D.C. and California, and then it gets squandered. Do I get a thank you? Hell no. They want to take more. I’m sick of it. And you should be to.

Hopefully after marriage I’ll see a nice tax break.

Until you have kids and a house, being married doesn’t give you too much of a tax break. The main difference between filing single and married is the standard deduction, $10,700 vs $5,350. If one of you doesn’t work or have much income then that can really reduce your tax liability. Since Sarah was doing internship stuff her income was lower than normal and we’re getting about $2,700 back. If I itemized there’d be no way I could close to that much of a deduction. Later on if both of us are making about the same, it might make sense to file as Married Filing Separately.
