How Fast Do You Type?

I’ve taken this test three times. Twice this morning, and once just now. My results are below.

Test #1: 84 wpm, 3 mistakes
Test #2: 84 wpm, 0 mistakes
Test #2: 84 wpm, 2 mistakes

I’m consistent! Anyone out there beat my 84 wpm? Test yourself now!

Edit: Went for a fourth test and hit 93 with 2 mistakes! haha.

First try: 79wpm, 0 mistakes. Too bad you can’t choose which text is displayed so we’d be comparing apples to apples.

Yeah, that’s kind of why I did it a bunch of times. I’m sure you could put a + or – 10wpm on this. There are some pretty complicated pieces they have in there.

hahaha, that was addicting! i wasn’t very consistent…but not too bad, i guess. I noticed that i made almost all my mistakes on words that were typed with my left hand…I think it’s because my fingernails on my left hand are longer. they get in the way. weird.

How do you all (except kurtigeek, evidentially) type so fast? I took the test a bunch of times and the best I could do was 61wpm with 2 mistakes.

Acid.

But really…it probably has something to do with growing up on keyboards. I remember practicing on “Mario Teaches Typing” in Junior High, and then keyboarding in High School. Then once I had the basics, I moved on to the best training aid in the world: AIM.

i would definitely have to agree with Nathan on this one. Mr. Watts’ keyboarding class in 9th grade, followed by about ten years intensive AIM training. I didn’t have the extra Mario Teaches Typing practice…that’s why I can only do 87 and Nathan can do 93.

I didn’t take keyboarding, although I understand the concept, I still look at the keyboard and use only a few fingers.
