I SOOO need a Utah magnet, preferably one commemorating Utah's greatest roadside attraction, the head of the world's largest dog. See http://www.roadsideamerica.com/map/ut.html for other loony attractions.

Also in Oregon, there is a "campground" that is more like a treehouse hotel. You should check it out. I think there is a link on my blog...towards the bottom.

Go to Gilroy and eat Garlic.

Been to all the places you mention. Great times.

The Tetons have an old family log cabin still standing.
SLC has some good food. Let me know.

We (my family) did drive up through yellowstone and up into montana then into northern idaho into washington. that was a cool drive. I have heard the drive in the reverse of what we did is different.

Also I did live in North Idaho for a few years and spent a bunch of time in the northwest. North idaho into canada and east into montana is very beautiful.

Eastern washington is nothing to write home about (farmish rolling brown/summer dead hills) northern mid into western washington seattle/tacoma is very nice.

I would agree with Angelo about the southern part of Idaho. My sister used to live in Pocatello and it ain't nothing to write home about. If you could spare a few more days, I would suggest you go up into Washington, through the top of Idaho, and down through Montana to approach Yellowstone from the North.

Tetons and Yellowstone are both very beautiful and really the only reason to even consider entering Wyoming. Yellowstone is just awesome and I look forward to returning there some day. The part of Idaho you drive through is not very exciting or pretty (except for the Yellowstone part). Crater lake is nice. Carmel-Monterey aread is pretty too. Above that (coastal) into oregon is also very scenic.

Overall it's quite a trip with lots of driving. You'll be exhausted when you return. Very worth doing though. I've been wanting to take lori on a road trip like this for a while as she's not been to most of the areas you mentioned, unfortunately work and life always seem to get in the way.

Good luck and get yourself a GPS!
