Not bad. Absolving half of the Fed is a sound idea, but building a fence would *increase* government. A fence alone would be a waste of money, even a kill-zone would be routed around. Offer a reasonable path to legal residency and we would have no need for the fence.

Yes, there are several paths to legal residency. The shortest, and probably most reasonable, is to join the US Marine Corps. Of course, one would have to be acceptable to the USMC and one would have to know about it. The most common path takes *at least* five years to traverse, note that a work visa is only 6 months, so at some point *most* are illegal. The path is long, difficult, expensive, and not based on merit. If any of the government officals decide that they do not like you, away you go. It helps if you are highly educated, such as a MD or Phd, or if you herald from a first world European nation, that need not be an ally of the US. The first advantage is that you *look* like the immigration examiner. Not all, not even most, of the examiners are dishonest or untrustworthy, but one must pass through so many of these low paid officals that odds are high that one will hit one. I have a friend from Bangladesh; a muslim nation that is a *strong* ally of the US, who has a degree in Chemistry. He has lived here for ~12 years now, mostly legally, is married to a white Christian (yes they can) has four children and he still took 7 years to get citizenship.

He was raised in a British boarding school; because his father worked for the Bengoli embassy, and speaks English better than I do. I have never heard him speak Bengoli and refuses to teach his own children his native language. He is so much an American, that he makes many natural born Americans seem like socialists. Despite all of his advantages, he was *almost* deported after 9/11 solely because he came from a muslim country. If he could not have afforded a lawyer, these kids would be growing up fatherless & destitute.
