President Bush had a good day today. He said that the national anthem should be sung in English, and people should learn to speak it. He also rejected a proposal that would tax oil company profits. Not bad W.

Now how about a fence and absolving half of the federal government?

On Thursday the California State Senate decided to support a walkout by illegal aliens. If you read the article there are a few quotes, which basically show that Democrats are supporting the walkout. It’s pandering for votes at its finest. So much for schools that have been preparing for May 1st and warning students not to skip school. Apparently the state government thinks it’s ok!

If all the toilet cleaners want to stay home that is fine with me. I clean my own toilet.

UPDATE

Another article from Drudge about May 1st. There was a specific part I found very humorous:

"Conservatives want the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants returned to Mexico and a fence built along the border.

Others, including President George W. Bush, want a guest-worker program and a path to citizenship."

Haha, there are conservatives, and then there is President Bush. How true!

Has the Lie Ended Now?

rick monday saves American flag 30 yearsThis a really cool story about how Rick Monday saved the American flag from being burned at Dodger Stadium 30 years ago.

Surprisingly I’ve never heard the story. Two guys ran out on the field to burn the flag and make a statement, but Rick Monday (former Dodger and now announcer) was playing centerfield for the Cubs. He ran and intercepted the flag before it could be burned. A great moment in both American and Dodger history.

I love Mountain Dew. Lately though I am outraged by the high cost I have to pay. I am part of the working class of this country. I pay my taxes and obey the law. But evil Pepsi is charging way too much for Mountain Dew. They are making tons of money and paying their President millions of dollars. And who is suffering? Myself and all the other helpless soda drinkers. I have no choice but to drink Mountain Dew, because there are no other rehydration options available to me. I demand that Pepsi, a private business that only exists because they want to, lower the price of Mountian Dew immediately! They are obviously charging more for soda than they have to, and even though I have zero evidence to prove that, I will continue to cry "PRICE GOUGING!"

Ridiculous right? The above is completely idiotic, yet people continue to complain about gas prices in the same way. Some morons in Sacramento are suggesting a new tax on gasoline profits. As any economist will tell you, taxes make things cost MORE!

Sacramento: Hey evil oil companies, if you make more money than we think you should, we’re going to tax you.
Oil Companies: Geez, that doesn’t sound fair. Are you going to tax McDonald’s if they make a lot of money?
Sacramento: No, of course not, don’t be silly.
Oil Companies: Why are you going to tax us then?
Sacramento: Because you’re EVIL! (and all the morons in America will be happy and vote for us because we attacked the evil oil companies).
Oil Companies: Right…

The above article details several things that explain our current oil "situation."

1) We have LESS oil refineries than we did in the 1980′s, reducing the supply of refined crude oil.
2) After 30 investigations in the last 20 years there has been ZERO evidence of price gouging (including congress questioning oil execs just a few months ago).
3) Oil companies earned 5.8 cents on each dollar, compared to 5.5 cents for other industries.

Unfortunately none of that matters. The public hears that an oil executive makes 400 million dollars and BAM, they’re evil and ripping off the American worker. GET OVER IT! Ride a bike, buy a bus pass, strap on your rollerblades, tame a wild stallion, carpool, walk, jog, run, crawl, move closer to work, get a hot air balloon, flyer a glider, invent a new gyrocopter, or hop on that pogostick.

Low Gas Prices Anyone?

Found a cool site where people can list low gas prices when they find them. I drive by two stations everyday, so I figure I’ll update those frequently. It’s only as useful as the information that people update with, so I encourage you to adopt a station or two and update them when you can.

And speaking of gas prices, the President is confused. Yet again we are looking into gas prices. Give it a rest already! He was also blabbing today about how illegals work jobs that Americans won’t. Repeal minimum wage and get rid of social welfare and guess what, you’ll have plenty of people working those jobs. Instead of a guest worker program, now it’s a temporary worker program. He kept saying he’d give them a "tamper proof" card…as if he can just say "tamper proof" and it magically becomes tamper proof. "Ah look, a tamper proof card. Because I called it tamper proof, it will never be counterfeited!"

He’s sure doing a good job of pissing off his supporters. Build a fence, no "temporary worker" permits, and stop spending all our money!

Most posts focus on a single topic, which aids the reader in focusing on that which the writer wants them to focus on. This post however will have zero focus.

Right now I’m sitting in the CSUF library wearing my CSULB Dirtbags hat. Crazy CSUFers have been mad-dogging me the whole time, it’s awesome. I saw a stupid girl wearing a t-shirt that read "Stop judging me based on your IGNORANCE." I wanted to tell her "Stop assuming I give a rip about  YOU." I think it would be awesome and she wouldn’t know what to say. How idiotic do you have to be to wear a t-shirt like that? I’m sure she feels so unique, because after all she bought a t-shirt and was able to put it on correctly.

Yesterday we went to Alcatraz Brewing Co. at the Block with Fanny and Mark. It was good. Then we went back to their house to watch part of the Dodger game and kill some time until cheap bowling started at Del Rio. Unfortunately when we went to Del Rio, not only was there a huge wait, but there were 1,000 dirty little kids running around at 9:30 pm! Now I realize it is spring break, but take your dirty little kids home and put them to bed so us adults can have some fun. Due to the dirty little kids and the idiots that work at Del Rio, we left without giving them a cent of our hard-earned money. We instead went to our house and watched the movie Derailed. Very good thriller and I highly recommend you view this movie.

I’ve been eyeing a computer upgrade for the last week and talked the wifey into letting me buy. I’m replacing a 4 year old videocard, a 4.5 year old sound card, and upgrading memory (which in turn will let me overclock). I’ll post more when I actually get the parts tomorrow and have a chance to see them work. It was only $15 more for overnight shipping, otherwise it might have been delayed until Monday, and that would be as annoying as the girl with the stupid t-shirt.

Spending time on a college campus like this reminds me of my years working on my bachelor’s degree. Can anyone explain why it’s "bachelor’s" and not "bachelors"? Who and what exactly is a bachelor, and why does the degree belong to them? Why not "bachelor degree"?

In case anyone was wondering, I still think we should build a wall on our southern border. In fact, the Minutemen are thinking of taking matters into their own hands. They already have landowners there on the border that would let them build. I love the entire Minuteman project. Ordinary citizens willing to do something when the government is not. If you’re a whiny liberal who thinks the Minutemen shouldn’t be doing what they are, then grab a big box of tissues. They’re only helping to enforce the already existing laws that our country has adopted. Citizens Arrest in da house!

I made what I thought was an awesome post over at Amy’s blog, but the only one who deemed it worthy of a reply was Kevin. I spent a good 20 minutes and a great deal of creative thought developing that post!

Who messed up the church bulletin? It went from a clearly defined layout broken up by ministry to just a garbled mess of text. I liked seeing everyone’s mug next to their little column.

The last two paragraphs were only a couple sentences long. I bet you think I’m running out of stuff to say, right? Wrong!

So now that I’ll have a computer that can actually run games created in the 21st century, any suggestions what I should check out? I’ve got Half-Life 2 with CS: Source, so I’ll definitely fire those up. I tried Oblivion on Andrew’s machine and it looked intriguing. Otherwise there are a ton of games that I haven’t even played like BF 2, F.E.A.R., Farcry, Call of Duty 2, Doom 3, Quake 4, and anything else that came out in the last couple years. I’m not really interested in a MMORPG. Star Wars Galaxies held my interest for quite a while, but that was because I had a profit motive. WoW got old…killing and questing for hours on end…and for what? So what should I check out?

I’m almost done with Feast for Crows. I don’t know what to read next though. There are a lot of other fantasy series I could check out like the Dark Tower series, or Goodkind, or Brooks. I’ve read several apologetic books regarding Catholicism, but I’m interested in reading some about Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Muslims. I know I disagree with them, but I’d like to know a little more concretely "why" I do.

I’ve now spent 30 minutes typing random thoughts, and while it’s been fun, I need to go work on homework that is due on Monday. Off to Disneyland after this and probably going to meet up with a buddy from work. Adios bloggers.
