Last Minute Halloween Movies

Halloween is tomorrow, and I have the urge to watch some Halloweenish type movies. Scoff at the choices if you’d like, but I’m trying to make it accessible to all tastes. :p

Where: My House
What: Donnie Darko at 6 pm, Scream at 8 pm
Why: Because scary movies on Halloween is cool.
Who: Friends and family. Frank from Austria, you can’t come.

I’m not planning any food and stuff, this isn’t a party. We’re just watching movies for crying outloud. If you’re gonna come, post. If you’re not gonna come, I hope the wolfman gets you.

No, I don’t really hope the wolfman gets you. If he did that would be really crazy though, because I’m pretty sure the wolfman doesn’t exist. Even though you’d be dead, you would be all over the evening news. In fact, we’d probably stop watching our movies just to see you all dead on the news. Wow, this is going to be an exciting halloween!

Update: I bought pizza bites.

Blogging Fever!

Blogging has reached a fever pitch among friends! Andrew and Denise have exciting new designs and focuses, Amy has switched over to blogger, and now Curt has joined the fray! Kurtis even mentioned his blog to me the other day which is quite exciting!

Blogs are an awesome discussion tool. We as individuals have an outlet for our ideas, frustrations, ponderings, and much more. Then as a small community we have the chance to agree, disagree, and ultimately (hopefully) reach a better understanding of life.

Sometimes our blogs are amusing, boring, rebellious, and odd, but they are real. Whatever your cause and purpose for blogging may be, keep on keeping on!

DePodesta is Gone!

Dodger fans around the world can start breathing easy: Paul DePodesta is gone! Frank McCourt must have finally wised up and released this guy. I don’t know a single Dodger fan who likes him or the moves he has made over the last couple years. He made some bonehead trades, and for the most part ignored the human factor.

Now if the Dodgers can hire Orel Hershiser, and a decent GM, things might be heading in the right direction.

Search Engine Science #2

Back in June I posted my current search engine rankings. I thought it was time to take a look and see how some minor changes have affected my rankings. The only valid results I will accept are www.theblarg.com or nathan118.blogspot.com. Old results in ( ).

Google: #904 (#16)
Yahoo: #40 (#130)
MSN: #10 (-)
Ask Jeeves: #9 (-)
Altavista: #40 (#115)
Lycos: #8 (#14)

Google has some issues. They list my OLD burn address at #26, which doesn’t even lead to a valid webpage anymore, but they don’t list my current one at all. I added msn and ask jeeves, which I think are more popular than altavista and lycos. I have three top 10 ranks, so that’s pretty cool.

Last dumb thing…google doesn’t index any of the individual pages on my site. That means I get absolutely zero click throughs from google. I’ve done some reading and it sounds like google is completely botching blogger sites, so who knows what is up. I’ll check back in a couple months and see where the rankings are then!

Update: Google also does something called Page Ranking, which is a number from 1 – 10. The higher the number, the higher “rank” your page is. I’m at 3 right now with a cool graphic at the right. Turns out google does list my site…at #904 according to Google Rankings.

Warren VS Downey

Tonight is Warren VS Downey, so we’ve decided it’s a good excuse to check out the new stadium. I think I went to the game maybe the year or two after I graduated, but I haven’t been in a long time. I’m a little curious if I’ll see anyone there I know. I’ve been under the assumption that most people who attend high school football games after they have graduated are losers. Now that I plan to attend one though, my assumption must be wrong, right?

Joe Morgan Is Dumb

Joe Morgan is dumb. So that might be a juvenile way of putting it, but his latest comments show just how disillusioned some people are. To summarize the article, Joe Morgan finds it “disturbing” that there are no black people on the Houston Astros. Oh boo hoo, big deal!

Blacks make up 9 percent of big league rosters, to which Commisioner Bud Selig said “I feel badly about it.” Hello, blacks only make up 12% of our country’s population to begin with! Nevermind that blacks make up the majority of players in football and basketball, what’s the big deal if black people don’t want to play baseball?

And here is where the whole discussion becomes so stupid. Black people are CHOOSING not to play baseball Joe Morgan, and this is distuuurbing to you? Please tell, does it also disturb you that there are very few, if any, Native American baseball players?

Wake up, here in America people are free to decide the sports they do and do not like. This is reverse-racisim and discrimination at its finest. What Joe Morgan is really saying is, he would rather more blacks play than another racial group. He is promoting one group solely based on the color of their skin. Joe Morgan, you are dumb.

Rising Stars Is Here!

Back in August I posted about a cool comic book I ordered from Amazon, and it finally came! It’s called Rising Stars. Turns out the publish date was pushed back, so that’s why I had to wait. The book is really high quality, and I’m loving it. Hardbound, a cloth thingy to keep your place, and every page is packed with beautiful color printing and story.

Another book I’m dying to read is almost here: A Feast for Crows. This is book 4 in the Song of Fire and Ice series, and I’ve got my fingers crossed that the series stays strong. I wanted to read the first 3 books again, but I only got a quarter of the way through book one. :) Oh well, after book 4 comes out I’ll have plenty of time to read them all over again!

Photo Blogging

Haven’t had any fun pictures up here recently, so here are some from the last couple weeks!

A couple weekends ago we went to Vegas for some good eats and to see Mamma Mia. This is me at the Wynn eating crab legs. They were surprisingly good, and the buffet was phenomenal.

The poor dog is now home alone 5 days a week while the two of us are off making a living. Since we finally have a secure backyard we’ve been leaving her outside, but now fall is here. We found this super cute dog house online and it came tdoay. Now she’ll have a place to sleep and stay warm during our very chilly winters!

I had to put up a picture of the bug zapper that I’m so excited about. I’ve finally settled on a good place for it away from the backdoor. This one is much better at killing bugs than the first broken one.

And lastly a picture out our front door. The area we’re in is even better than we could have hoped for. Everyday I wake up I feel blessed with so much. The super cool purple sky was an unintended effect.

That’s the last couple weeks in "photo review." :)
