The Insanity Has Begun

Last night at around 8:30 pm the wedding insanity finally began. It has been building for several months, but the final stretch run craziness has started.

Last night Stacie and I listened to and selected music for 5 hours. The reason we had to last night is because we are meeting with the videographer and DJ today, who of course need to know what songs we want.

With that out of the way I can work on getting the programs done. My goal is to have them finished by Sunday. I only need about 400 copies double-sided, then folded, and then a tassel put on them. I should probably finish typing them up first though.

Today we bought sunglasses though which was fun. I almost bought the same old Oakley Minutes I had before, but I got some cheaper and cooler Bolles, and so did Stacie. They’re “polarized” which I think is just a gimmick. They have this stupid display to look at where you can only see certain things through the polarized lenses. I’m sorry, but if I can’t tell a difference looking at normal stuff, I don’t care if I can see “hidden” things on your display. It’s not like they’re 3D glasses.

Now I’m waiting for Verizon to come out and put a super dooper filter at the main telephone box coming into the house. They send you cheapy filters with the DSL modem, but they degrade voice quality bad. They can come out and put a nice filter on the entire house though, and then no more cheapy filters inside. :)

Now I go play MVP Baseball while I wait. Only 22 games left in my season and i’m 5 back of the Padres in the West, and 2 games up on the Giants in the wild card. Wish me luck!

Update: Just completed a sweep of the Padres. Now only 3 back of the Pads and 4 up on the Giants. Woot!

My Wedding Haircut

I have gone to the same barber since I was 5 years old. In honor of my loyalty, I get a free wedding haircut today! Usually I get it cut really short, and then it grows to a nice length, so I’ve factored that into my timing. In a week and a half when the wedding gets here my hair should be a perfect length. Now I just have to go wake up, brb.

Dumb AIM Virus

Paddy just sent everyone in the world a stupid AIM virus. He’s a super lame hacker trying to takeover the world. Boo.

My friends Kevin and Christie have a new apartment! They had a group of us over the other night for some good times. It still baffles me how much fun can be had just because it’s no longer our "parent’s place." Not that parents are bad, but it’s a very strong reality that we’re growing up and moving out on our own, literally. :) Only took a couple pictures, but they are here.

This week, with the help of my wonderful mother, we put grass in our backyard. We took a little stroll down to H&H Nursery in Lakewood, and they were awesome. They told me what special bags of dirt I needed and how to prepare the soil for the new grass. Then we looked at the different grass types and selected St. Augustine because it does well with shade and pets. Then two days later the grass arrived, and there it is!

Andrew also helped me move my computer desk and the arcade, and both were a pain. New pictures start here.

What Really Matters

This post will either tell you one of two things.

A) Society has become so dependent on technology that our day-to-day lives revolve around computers, and it is hard to live without them.

or

B) I’m a geek.

Now that all the painting at the townhouse is done, and we have a bed, the only reason I haven’t started living there is simple: my computer hasn’t moved. Well tonight I started the process of moving it. I’m removing all the junk off my desk (which is a lot) and I’ve got a couple boxes to move. Oh yay!

My mom is sad though, she’s cute. :)

The Norwalk Courthouse

Yesterday I had to go to the Norwalk Courthouse to obtain a marriage license. It was a nightmare.

For some reason beyond what I can explain, all of the loudest and most annoying people in existence congregate at the courthouse to hang out and make your life miserable. They show up with their little kids and let them run around, stick paper in the soda machine, and never once reprimand them. It literally drives you crazy.

There is an upside however. I think there should be a law that you must go to the Norwalk Courthouse to file for divorce. What this would do is force people to think twice about making their marriage work, because no one in their right mind would willingly go back to the most annoying place on earth!

Call Me Manure Man

Comments off

Today I played with manure. We ordered grass the other day to put in our backyard, but I have to “prepare” the soil before it arrives. So today I took a big pick-ax and began to break up the soil. I removed rocks and old cement. Then I mixed in these special compost mixes I picked up at the nursery. One was called “black forest,” which sounds really cool. Now when we put the St. Augustine sod down it will have a healthy layer of dirt to grow in.

The dog thought I smelled very interesting when I got home. :)
