Lunacade Update!

That’s right, the arcade cabinet has a name! LUNACADE. Inspired by my good friend Chris Luna, the arcade has taken on a space theme. It’s amazing how much time it took to make these graphics, but they’re done. My great brother-in-law Paul has been kind enough to help me print them. We can finally start working on the controls! For bigger pictures check this out. The image on top is the "marquee" which goes across the top of the machine. The other image is the control panel overlay, which goes where all the buttons and joysticks are.

Go Dodgers!

I’ve been a Dodger fan since 1993, and eleven years later I finally get to see them win a playoff game! What can I say, Lima simply rocked. It’s too bad game 4 and a possible game 5 are back to back, otherwise I think we’d see Lima in game 5. I think Perez will do well here at home though, so it should be exciting. Go Big Blue!

I’m going out with Stacie and some of her friends from school tonight, but I’ll be sure to catch a video feed of the debate later tonight. I think President Bush will do better in this format, and since he “lost” according to some people in the first debate, I think he’ll come out extra strong tonight. I’m sure much time has been spent on his appearance despite how unimportant it really is.

The whole Iraq issue has been beaten beyond recognition. Bush is doing it one way, Kerry would do it “better,” but nothing new has been said in weeks. Sean Hannity suggests Bush focus on Kerry’s senate record tonight. Kerry has years and years of voting a certain way and for certain things that can’t be erased by a couple debates, or shouldn’t be anyways. He loves tax increases, he’s voted against defense and intelligence bills numerous times, and he voted against the first Gulf War. John Kerry can talk tough in the midst of a debate, but it doesn’t change his record. What the Bush camp needs to do is effectively remind the public that he is indeed a flip-flopper.

New Relient K Album

Relient K’s got a new album coming out on November 2nd entitled “Mmhmm.” Check out these three tracks for free. You can even pre-order it for only $9.99 plus $0.99 shipping. Amazon wants $14 for it. So far it sounds like they’ve grown up and have a more serious sound. Bands always take a chance when they change their sound, but I love what I’m hearing. They’ve still got the intelligent lyrics, but I get the feeling there won’t be any gibberish on this one. ;)

Another band you should check out is Hawk Nelson. I’ve had their song “California” stuck in my head for days now.

Random Musings…

I’ve been so busy working, going to school, and being engaged, lately I’ve been missing my guy buddies. It’s hard because they’re all busy with some of the same things, so ultimately we just don’t see each other much. I wish I could do the bowling thing, but I’m just too busy :( . It’s hard to admit, but I suppose this is just how things start to work when you get older. Your family starts to become your closest circle of friends, which isn’t bad, just different. So anyways, all us guys should go do something.

Right now I’m watching the video feed of the VP debate last night. If John Edwards says “the reality is….” one more time, I’m going to puke. Cheney is well spoken, makes it much more enjoyable. It’s great how Cheney points out Kerry’s crappy defense record, and all John Edwards can say is “but didn’t you listen to the debate last week!?!” Hopefully Friday’s town hall debate setting will be more friendly to the President.

Well, the Dodgers were back in the playoffs today for the first time in eight years. The bad thing is they picked up right where they left off in 1996: losing. It was an ugly 8-3 defeat, but hopefully they can turn things around. I paid for internet on my phone this month just so I can watch the game while I’m at school on Thursday night.

Jesse Jackson was on the Sean Hannity show this afternoon, and he’s certifiably nuts. He was blabbing on and on about a conspiracy to hinder black people from voting. When pressed for specific examples he couldn’t give any, but of course it’s still real. It’s just like in the 2000 election when Democrats played the race card. There was not a SINGLE case brought against anyone for hindering blacks from voting. NONE. Yet of course the Democrats go around preaching it like it’s fact. Hey, if you tell yourself something enough, eventually you’ll convince yourself it’s true. I believe it’s called delusion.

Finally my poor bios. I ordered a new motherboard that came today, so I’m gonna try and install that bad boy before I go to school tonight. Wish me luck.

The Playoffs Are Here!

The playoffs are finally here for us Dodger fans after 9 years of waiting…and now I can’t even watch the games!

The Dodgers first game is Tuesday at 10 am PST…and I’ll be subbing at Sussman. Their second game is Thursday evening…and I’ll be at CSULB. How crappy is it that once they’ve finally made the playoffs, my schedule doesn’t even allow me to watch the games! I’m seriously considering taping them, coming straight home and not touching the radio, and watching them on my own. Heck, I won’t have to sit through the commercials.

Boo My Broken Bios!

So last night I went to install Service Pack 2 for XP…and let’s say I ran into a minor problem. I got a free after rebate Soyo motherboard that I’d been using, but after the Service Pack 2 update I was having bios problems. So I went to Soyo’s website, found the new bios, and proceeded to update it. Everything worked fine, except I was getting a weird cmos error. So I looked on their website again, and in a different place they showed another way to flash the bios. So, hoping this might fix it, I proceeded to try it. Turns out it was a bad idea. My bios must be totall corrupt, because it won’t even post now. :(

Soyo wants $20 for a new bios chip, but I’m cutting my losses. Ordered a nice ASUS board with DUAL bios. I had a Gigabyte board with dual bios before and it was awesome. You flash one bios, and if by chance you screw it up, you’ve always got a back-up to save you. This soyo had crummy overclocking options too, and the asus has many. Guess you get what you pay for.
